Filters
How do I know my filter size? This is the last time you’ll ever need to check, we promise. Most filters have their nominal size printed on their outside edge which will look something like this: 16” x 20” x 1”, 20” x 25” x 2”. If you see some funky fractions like 13 ¼” x 19 ¼” x ¾” don’t worry, filter manufacturers don’t like fractions any more than we do. Simply round up (in this case it would be 14” x 20” x 1”) and you will be good to go. If your old filter is missing (hopefully not!), simply measure the opening and obtain the height, width, and depth. Still need a hand? Reach out to us at help@cleanairclub.ca. |
What does MERV mean? No, furnace filters weren’t invented by a guy named Mervin. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, a fancy way of saying how well a given filter stops dust and contaminants from passing through it. The higher the rating, the smaller the particles a filter can catch from the air. Remember though, a higher MERV rating doesn’t necessarily mean a better filter, it’s just different. At Clean Air Club we believe in informed choice, not tricking our customers into buying something that may not be right for them. To find out more about MERV ratings and which one is best for you, head over here. |
Do I really need to change my filter that often? One time I forgot for a whole year! Ouch! We know you have a lot going on, which is why you should leave this one to us. When you pulled out your old filter it was probably covered in grime. This increases how hard your fan has to work to push air through your HVAC system. A harder working fan uses more energy which in turn costs more money. That’s not even mentioning the toll it takes on your health as furnace filters can’t protect you if they aren’t being changed. Regular filter changes (we recommend a minimum of every 3 months for 1” filters) save you money and let you breath easy. For more information, check this out. |
Where do your filters come from? Our filters are made entirely in Canada, most of them right here in Alberta. In fact, our wholesale filters are made right here in Edmonton! We also use local shipping materials in order to support our partner Albertan businesses. We believe in the quality of Canadian products and supporting our local economy. ‘Berta. |
Can you tell me more about your subscription filters? These aren't your grandfather's filters! Our filters are made from 100% synthetic pleated media, enclosed in a heavy-duty moisture resistant die-cut frame, and our MERV 8 and 10 filters do not rely on electrostatic charging (due to the miniscule particles captured by our MERV 13 filters, they are only available with electrostatic charging). This means they maintain their efficiency throughout the life of the filter! With the lowest airflow resistance available, our filters minimize your energy costs. Did we mention they're made with 100% recycled paperboard? |
Can you tell me more about your wholesale filters? We've partnered with an Edmonton manufacturer to provide only quality Alberta-made filters to our wholesale customers. We believe in working together to boost our local economy and are working hard towards expanding our wholesale line to encompass all our offerings! Like our subscription offerings, our wholesale filters are made using a synthetic media laminated to corrosion resistant metal mesh. The V-pleat design increases the media surface area while minimizing airflow resistance. All of this awesomeness is enclosed in a heavy duty, double walled, moisture resistant die-cut frame. |
Can your filters be recycled? The filter frame can be removed from used filters and recycled with your other household cardboard. The metal support grid is also recyclable, but you may want to check with your local collection agency on whether it needs to be dropped off at the eco-centre. Unfortunately, the synthetic media used for the filtering itself is not yet recyclable and needs to be disposed of. |

How long until I get my filters? Our wholesale products are made to order, right here in Edmonton. We currently have a 5-10 business day turnaround time, so you can expect your filters to be shipped within that time. In the event of a delay, either due to inventory shortages or otherwise, you will be notified via email. |
What shipping options are available? For wholesale orders totaling over $70, shipping is free in the Edmonton area. Cost shipping is available via Canada Post and other providers for shipments outside of this area or under the free shipping threshold. Live somewhere else and still want free shipping? Why do you have wholesale products? Isn't the subscription the point? Although many of our customers love our subscription program because it simplifies their life (seriously, check it out), we know choice is important. For those who want to benefit from manufacturer prices but want to manage their own replacements we've given them that option. Plus, you get to support the Albertan economy and keep your money where it belongs! |
Why is Clean Air Premium MERV 11 for wholesale, but MERV 10 for subscriptions? Due to the difference in manufacturers between our two product lines, our Clean Air Premium option is slightly different between wholesale and subscription offerings. The difference between MERV 10 and 11 is very slight, and regardless of which you pick, you can rest assured you are getting superior air quality. |
